ONE (1): Ragdolls are Floppy Cats

As indicated by their name, ragdolls are known for their floppy and relaxed demeanor. This unique trait is one of the defining characteristics of the breed, making them particularly endearing to cat lovers.

TWO (2): Puppy Like Personality

Are you home yet?

Do you love cats but wish yours had a personality more like a dog's? If so, a ragdoll cat is perfect for you! These cats are very intelligent (indeed, some respond to their name and play fetch), enjoy accompanying you around the house, and will even greet you at the door when you return home!

THREE (3): Kittens are Born White at Birth

Ragdoll kittens are initially born completely white! Their color starts to emerge and become visible in the first few weeks. Nevertheless, their full coloration will keep evolving over the first few years.

FOUR (4): Ragdolls are Highly Social

Ragdolls are the extrovert of cats. They desire to be close to you - or another animal if you aren't around. If they are alone, they will cry, calling for attention and love.

FIVE (5): Ragdolls are Large Cats

Maybe this one should go under the puppy category again? Ragdolls, especially males, will grow larger than popular small dogs! The male cat will weigh, on average, up to 15-20 pounds once full grown (around 3-4 years).

SIX (6): Life Expectancy

Ragdoll cats are known for their longevity and can live 12 to 17 years, with some even reaching their early 20s with proper care. Their long lifespan means adopting a Ragdoll is a serious, long-term commitment, so owners should be prepared to provide consistent love, nutrition, and veterinary care throughout their cat’s life.

SEVEN (7): Cost

If you’re looking to adopt a Ragdoll, be prepared for a significant investment. Ethical breeders perform genetic testing to ensure their cats are free from common hereditary diseases, which adds to the cost. A common red flag for scams is an unusually low price—if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Ragdolls typically range from $1,800 to $3,500+, depending on lineage, health screenings, and breeder reputation.
